hydronic air handler

I've been watching this post with interest to see if anyone had any suggestions. From the lack of response it looks like there aren't any such controllers aimed at the domestic market. I think the manufacturers have assumed that programming is beyond the ability of domestic contractors or home owners.

If you can program commercial BMS controllers you might find one on E-bay that you could adapt. I got some redundant Trend controllers this way; 8 analogue or digital inputs, 8 outputs, PID control and OSS. A commercial antique, 10 years old but OK for my purposes.

If you can afford a new controller, Caleffi were offering some interesting control products, but they don't market them in the UK yet, so I can't comment.

    hydronic air handler

I am putting in a hydronic air handler in place of my scorched air system as a first step in a complete system overhaul.I will be using a Burnham cast iron boiler and a Goodman hydronic air handler that has hot water coil ,circulator pump and A/C coil built in.In the future I will be putting fin tube on the second floor and most likely radiant floor heat on the first floor but for now I will be using the air handler for my heat.I said all that to ask this.I would like to use primary secondary loops and cannot find information on 4way mixing valves and the controls to operate them in a residentail setting.I maintain systems like this only on a larger scale in a hospital that use Siemens and Trane building control software but this is kinda extreme for a house.I have looked at most supply house web sites and manufacuerers websites but cannot find anything that would work .Any clues would be appreciated.

    Controls

If I read you right, you want something to control a 4 way valve for you air handler and something for you eventual cast iron circuit. I have used a Tekmar floating action set point controller for air handlers before, mounted the sensor on a rod and put in the discharge of my air handler to control my output air temp based upon outdoor air temp. Call Tekmar and they can hook you up. Good luck Tim.

    HydroAir controls

You may want to look at the Erie Boiler Boss WA300 HydroAir relay, [www.invensysibs.com, Products, Erie, Product Literature, scroll down to Boiler Boss literature]. We are still in the process of updating the web site, if you don't find the literature, e-mail me and I will send the data. Instead of a 4-way, consider using a small circulator B&G NRF injection pump and BB3000 variable speed controller. To many 4-way valves get stuck and have troubles. IMHO:) Also, are you resetting the water temp to the airhandler, or to the future fintube and/or radiant? The BB3600 gives a 0-10v or 4-20mA output and an Erie modulating 3-way zone valve can do the secondary controlling. Don't know what else to tell you.
