Can anyone tell me how to calculate the piping and pickup on steam piping. I've already calculated the EDR of the connected rads and not sure how to allow for the piping.

The EDR # on the boiler
If you use the EDR number on the boiler rating plate, it already has a 1.33 pickup factor built in.
If you would like to use a different factor, multiply YOUR EDR by your new factor, and use the GROSS STEAM OUTPUT rating.

are there
different multipliers for insulated vs. uninsulated pipes?
Thanks for the quick response!0 -
If the steam pipes are not insulated
use a 50% pickup factor.
I'd suggest to the owner that they have you insulate the steam pipes, this will improve response and lower the fuel bill.
