Munchkin compatible w/any 10K outdoor sensor?

We have a Munchkin. I'd been suspecting for a while that it isn't reading the right temperature.

Yesterday I put two other thermometers next to the sensor and these two were within 1F of each other, but the Munchkin reading is 6F higher. I watched it several times today, in the range of 45F-65F outdoor temperatures, and the Munchkin reading is always 5-6F higher.

During this process I also noticed that the sensor box didn't say Munchkin, it said Tekmar.

I know both use 10K thermistors, but are all 10K thermistors equal? Do I have the right to demand that I get an original Munchkin sensor? (My contract didn't literally say Munchkin sensor, it said outdoor sensor.) Can I turn a dial or something on the 925 board to correct the outdoor temperature reading?

Thank you for any help.

    Temp Sensor

Make sure your sensor wire is either shielded wire or is not run close to any line voltage wiring as it will pick up enough magnetic interference to give you problems.
I had a job that a customer said was not heating right but when I would arive I could find nothing wrong, It turned out one of our installers had run the sensor wire next to a switch leg and when the lite was on at night the sensor would not read properly, so by the time I would get there the light would be off and everything would be working properly.

    The differance is:

The Tekmar Sensor is rated at 10K at 77*F

Munchkin Sensor is rated at 12K at 77*F

This would explain the differances in the readings,

So the answer is no, they are not interchangeable
