How do I bleed/purge my hot water heating system
Hello,
Last summer, my roommate had decided to disconect and replace 3 cast-iron heat radiators from the system. In doing so, I think she shut-off the water valve that feeds the tank. When winter came around, only half of the house heated up.
I tried to bleed the system, by releasing the trapped air through the bleeder nozzles on each radiator (there are 12 radiators in my house), but I don't think there was enough water in the system to create enough preasure to circulate through the entire house.
I thought about opening the cold water valve (to fill the tank), but each time I left it open for so long, the release valve, at the side of the burner, would blow, releasing all the hot water out.
Help!!!
Q-1: Should that cold water valve remain open
Q-2: If I leave the cold water valve open, what will happen when the water tank gets full?
Thanks for your help.0
