I came across a job that another plumber had done. He installed a p204 burnaham boiler in a one family house, but it doesn't seam to work. The house has 11/2 steel pipe mains and 1" risers to the 6 large cast iron radiator (6 tube 17 section radiators. the house has 2 floor and one zone. The boiler run continusly on and off rapidly.

One answer was to install a bypass pipe with a valve in the middel between the feed an retun line.
we all use an IN burnham boiler when we have this problem it has a high water content. we feel there isn't enought water to make the system work. Have any idear how to fix problem without removing the old boiler witch is less than a year old
Thanks GpGJr.
Thank you george

    Take a picture

    and post it here.

Your description is too vague, and "not enough water" makes no sense.

This is definately a flow issue, but until we can see what is there, we can't help.

Have you checked the thermostat anticapator

9 times out of 10 it is not set right and the boiler will short cycle but never get to the thermostat setting.

I would guess that this is piping related, probably at the boiler and possibly in the system. A boiler bypass would allow the boiler to cycle on and off while bringing the system up in temperature moderately. I would venture to say that by your e-mail address that you are in the Massachusetts or Connecticut area. Have you contacted our Technical Services folks about this. E-mail me and I will put you in touch with one of our field service people to take a look at this one with you. Hope this helps.

    I'm sure

    he hasn't Glenn.

It's so much easier to come here and blast away about a product, even when it is obvious that the product has nothing to do with the problem. (Burnham has been getting a bit more attention lately)

You are a top notch guy Glenn, and I use Burnham products. If I ever had a bad experience with Burnham, I would drop them like a bad habit. But you folks are true to your word. You are there through thick and thin.

The new world belongs to the Internet. They come here before they seek the source.

That is almost never a good idea. I said almost never.

Best wishes Glenn, will I see you at ISH?

    Just an instant guess...

the pipe runs up and back to one radiator ........and the high limit is set with too tight a differential with non operational recirc pump..guessing is not good practise however so ....post a picture maybe that will be immediately apparent to someone here.
