Took a page from Dans books and gave it a try. New peerless with an indirect for hot water. 30 plus inches up from water line to bottom of supply. The return has 28 inches up from water line. Had the coil plate custom tapped so we could spread out the supply and return pipes. Peerless sends an inirect with 1 inch ports and the boiler only has 3/4 ports where you want to tap in to it. Pics of the old boiler I will try to post later. Found a concentric coupling on the end of the main in the crawl space and it was leaking so we had to fix that to........ This system has been reborn....IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!

Pro Press
Mellow how do you like the pro press? If this was a new install how far do you go with it? Would you only use it around the boiler or for the whole job if it was baseboard. I'm getting one next week. Thanks, EJW0 -
excellent
Do you wrap all your own pipes? That must have made the owner a very happy camper..:) keep up the good work!!0 -
thanks guys
It was a fun job. Yes we try to get the cust. to let us wrap the pipes or we make them do it (to save them $$$ in labor). Yes I like using the propress machine and other than the mixing valves or drain tubes we do not sweat anything. I try to use black pipe off the boiler and copper to the ceiling. From the copper I change to pex and then to the radiators. If I did bb I would have my helper sweat copper to pex adapters to the bb at the shop. Then I would bring the bb and prepiped boiler to the job. I would snap the boiler together with the unions my helper installed in the supply and return when we were at the shop. Then I would drill holes and hang the bb. after that I would run the pex and connect. This way saves me the most time on the job and time is money. I have posted this job before but it is a perfect example of what you are looking for I think. This job is two zones of bb and an indirect. The second floor is pex and the first floor is copper. hope this helps.0 -
Looks good!
Just a word of caution though on that skim nipple and valve. If I were you I'd put a cap on the end of it to prevent some curious person from opening that valve and possibly getting scalded with steam. Hope this helps.
