Glowcore

Does anyone run across Glowcore anymore? Most of the boilers are out of the field now. I found cracks in a heat exchanger today, on a glowcore furnace. Is there any parts available for these furnaces? Does anyone know who the manufacture was. This one looked alot like a Tempstar, or a Whirlpool, from the late 1980's.

    cracked heat exchanger

The time spent trying to find the company and if you accually get a heat exchanger to buy, calculate labor to tear furnace down install new exchanger put it back together again it might not be worth it, maybe cheaper to get a new furnace even if you really like the one you now have.

    I've never seen one, but

someone on this forum recently posted that a customer had one that broke down every year. He kept it going, but the customers complained because it broke down every year. The heating guy then told them that he "never wished to work on the Glow Core again," but would be glad to install a new system instead.

    Glowcore

Heat exchanger still available through a company in Texas that bought the rights to the boiler. Sorry but I can't fing the name for you, but a little research will get it for you. installed an exchanger for a customer last year, but he got the thing elsewhere. Quite sure you can find it if you try.
    Sorry I can't help more

Thanks for the web site. I am not looking for the heat exchanger, the customer is convinced to upgrade to a high efficiency. I was just curious, if there was a way to parts like a draft inducer, burners, etc. , the o.e.m. kind of parts. I hate to tell someone that parts are obsolete, and have someone else come along with them.

    old BAD memories

Those are a real head ache. We had a couple that had a similar problem breaking down.  Then found they were installed wrong  They needed TWO large bTacos or grundfos pumps in series on a 1-1/8" main and the indirect  water heater for it needed dual coils 1" I think.  The water must move very fast through the heat exchanger or it will get too hot...But they did have a good tech line.  Thjis was about 15 years ago....The customer said he used one on a pool heater and it worked great, because it had a big load.
