how things change. Those Trianco Heatmakers were great to install 15 years ago. They worked well and solved may installation problems.
Now, they've gone the way of GlowCore, et. al.

Heatmaker
Oh nostalgia! Yes, the Heatmaker and the more recent Endurance boiler is not the easiest to troubleshoot or repair! If you have a good supplier that handles Laars products and supports them, it really helps! The Laars wholesaler and the Laars rep has been really helpful to me to learn how to take care of these "gems".
On another thought: Many of the Wallies are talking about the Monitors and Munchkins in some of the same glowing comments as was uttered 15 years ago about the Heatmaker! Some of the Wallies have gone so far as to suggest that we should not raise expectations about the Munchkin boilers beyond 15 years! I think the Heatmaker and the newer Endurance boilers had their place in a niche (small space) market. The fact that they were a new technology that has not replaced all cast iron boilers doesn't detract from the job that most of these installations have done for 15 - 20 years! I think that these pieces of equipment have done what they were designed to do!
In fact, the simplist way to replace an old Heatmaker is to replace it with a new Endurance boiler. There are better options, but this is the easiest and least cost way to replace an old Heatmaker or Endurance boiler.
Just my humble opinion.

huh?
California is another planet isn't it?? Heatmaker?? Glowcore?? I remember taking the Glowcore classes and thinking it was cool eff wise but also that it was built by a lawnmower company. The model they showed us was only a few months old and they kept saying that most of it was "revised". "Ummmmmm righhhht, call me back later when you guys get it staightened out". Never Happened. People out thier in the land of sun and fun actually thought those things where great? You dudes are like out in the sun too long huh? Catching some tasty waves! For sure like radical, no waaaaayyyy cool....0 -
Right on Joel
Built by a lawnmower company, Exactly. You were smarter than we were. Heat maker was almost as bad. I understand that Teledyne now sells this junk after the original owner dropped dead of a heart attack. All of these copper boilers are junk as far as I'm concerned. It does my heart good to see another one bite the dust. We used to keep an old Raypak out in the back to kick every now and then, just to keep on the right side of the "Force".
