CO Seminar needs attendees!

The total registrants for the CO panel at ISH-NA in Boston next month are woefully low. The sponsors are fighting a lot of losing battles in the promotion and organization of this event but we need to overcome these obstacles and have a good turnout for the seminars -- especially the CO panel.

To recap, I will be moderating a panel of experts who will discuss testing, measuring and topics pertaining to CO poisoning. The distinguished panel includes Timme McElwain, Jim Davis, Rudy Leatherman, George Lanthier, and Mark Hunt. Talk about a wealth of knowledge!

C'mon Wallies, sign up now at www.ish-na.com. (Oh, and Holohan will be giving a talk, too!)

  • Scheduling conflicts

    John,

Thursday morning you're competing with a couple of MUST SEE hydronics seminars; John Siegenthaler, Ted Lowe, and worse, the likes of our Captain; Dan Holohan's steam class. To add insult to injury, they have you guys on at the same time as Dan Foley's Radiant Hybrid systems and Carol Fey on Thursday afternoon.

Poorly laid out scheduling IMO. If they are going to have repeat sessions, they need to be at least on different days. Not one session followed by another as the CO panel is slated. Turnout wise you guys were doomed from the start.

Sorry I can't make it. May be I'll pop my head in to say hi:)

  • John, I guess it is time to invite

all my relatives. I have been told by people who wanted to attend our session that it has low priority versus some of the other seminars going on at the same time ours is on. I guess our time slot is really filled up with a lot or real heating superstars. They are real tough to compete with on any given day.

    Probably the wrong Title

Maybe the title of the discussion should have been "The Top Ten Ways We Jeopardize Our Customers Health and Safety". There shouldn't be as much of a conflict with the afternoon session because Carol & Dan Foley repeat the next couple of days. I was talking to a union worker at Comfortech last week and he mentioned that furnaces today must really be better because they offer a lifetime guarantee. My response was not really, we just don't expect the customer to live that long. As long as the customer is not inconvenienced, is warm, comfortable and clean their health is their doctor's problem. If that was not true, the post by John, wouldn't have been necessary.

    Wrong classification

I also believe that this panel should have been included in a special "crossover" section and not specifically tying it to HVAC. I believe it will be difficult, if not impossible, to convince anyone that this is nothing more than a plumber's show.
  • This is SO important,,,

I just can't let this fall off the Wall. I'll find the time in between seminars to show appreciation for what these fine gentlemen are talking about. A killer we can prevent.

    Too bad about the scheduling:(

Hey! Thanks for all you guys do. See you soon:)

    Gary

Have not made definate plans to be there yet, but if I AM,........I WILL be at the CO seminar. Talk about a wealth of knowledge there!!!! I think I feel a sick day coming!!! Oh and of course Willie will be there with me if we go! How can anyone take this too loosely when it is a HUGE safety concern. The poor attendance may well be a factor in comprehending the number of systems I find producing 400 to 4,000 PPM in the stack gases........

    tomorrow

I'm checking out a job for installing gas-fired generator exhaust stacks up and out of an old folks home center courtyard that's surrounded by windows. The super said he thinks the work is a bunch of hooie because "this CO thing is way overblown". Says none of these folks ever open their windows anyway.

Fortunately for the residents, the State thinks CO is real.

Thanks for the support. Too bad we all can't be in two places at once. Well, we can if we have split personalities (or pay to bring someone else to ISH-NA).

as I recall ISH Vegas had a very large "at the door check" in on the opening morning. I know because I stood in that line!

I would not abandon hope on getting a crowd. Numbers are going up quickly RPA went from 60- 120 in a week for the showcase!
