Been hearing alot about this guy

For the past year or more I have been hearing alot of good things about a new instructor @ Boces in Suffolk . I understand he teaches oil burner service and gas burner service. We are interested in sending some of our new recruits for this type of training and wonder if anyone here has heard of this guy named Ken ? I have heard he owns a heating company and does alot of training privately also. Just wondering where this guy came from ? Thank You .

    Kenny Combs

The only Ken I know of with an oil/teaching background is kenny Combs. His dad Ray(boiler room specialties) is one of the sharpest guys that ever worked in our industry and one heck of a fine instructor. The nut did not fall far from the tree as Kenny is also a very sharp guy.

  • This guys name is Ken Resnick , I was told .Seems he is becoming very popular in the heating instruction field .
All I know about him so far is that he was at Carbo Concord in the days of old . Now he owns a heating business and is an instructor for Suffolk Boces and does alot private instruction in oil and gas heating.
  • took a course he taught

Took a course this summer that Ken taught . Had limited success at Boces before but I really enjoyed the class ken taught. I signed up for the fall class he is teaching looking forward to it cause I think he is tops , learned so much and his way of teaching keeps you totally interested and involved . I know he teaches oil burner service 1 (I took it ) and oil service 2 and gas burner at Boces western suffolk .
  • HVAC Business owner

what is your location? I can recommend some good oil and gas training if you are nearby.
  • Haven't heard of him

but a manager at my company also teaches at a Boces in Suffolk . I'll ask if he knows Ken personally .
  • really good heating instructor

He also moderates a forum website www.findplumbing.com (it has a heating troubleshooting forum in it ).
Completed the gas burner course he taught in the spring at boces and also the oil burner course he gave this summer at Western Suffolk Boces .The lab was real hot and so was the course. It was exciting and interseting. Lots of hands on troubleshooting and theory .Also left the course with oodles of information and practical knowledge . I would certainly recommend it (him) to everyone. He does own a heating business in Suffolk County too , I have had him troubleshoot a couple of problem jobs for us . It's amazing to watch him work . YOu can tell he is passionate about this industry by the way he teaches and by the way he works .

My appreciation to all that have spoken so generously of my passion in this industry. Any and all information regarding courses at Western Suffolk Boces can be obtained directly from L.A. Wilson Technological Center- Boces , phone #631-667-6000 or at their website .. www.wilsontech.org/.
Thanks again for all the kind words.
Just doing what I am passionate about . Take great pride in what we all do and the knowledge that we can make a difference and can be of help.
  • You are tops

in my book , Ken ! Your ability to teach adults and technicians is fantastic. Never before have I met a more knowledgeable and patient person such as yourself. My hat is off to you . Your a natural at teaching in this field. Don't ever stop .Thanks again ,

  • Had the pleasure

of knowing Kenny for many many years. His expertise in the oil and gas heating service and installation field is unmatched in my opinion. He has helped us numerous times and always with a smile and great understanding. He teaches you something without you realizing you were being taught right there in the basement on your knees .
His intensity and passion shows through not only in his own work (he owns a plumbing & heating business right here in Suffolk County & teaches at Boces)but when we call upon him to straighten out a problem the manner in which he educates you is enlightening . Ken , if you see this ... Thank You !

    Teacher at Boces

    Hi all ,
I also was in a class of Ken Resnick's at Boces and it was informative and fun. He gets real excited about the topics we covered in the oil burner service class.
I was glad he was the instructor for that class because I learned so much (and not been put to sleep).
    Well, thanks

    A World Of Thanks

    Ken,
If your seeing this , I wanted to thank you for saving my hind quarters recently. I was on a problem job for my company the other day and I referred to some of the information you provided us in class on control wiring.
Not only did I save an important customer for my company but the praise I received from my supervisor was head swelling. He is a guy, that you know, never "pats" anyone one on the back, EVER! I told him I learned it all from you . Thanks again for everything, your one of a kind !

If you are one that cant "Help others help themselves" you dont belong on this site. He is one of the better people in this industry. Kudos to you KEN.
  • Learned it growing up.

    Thank You Sir ,
Trying to make a difference in this industry and we sure need more caring and informed service people.
My father was a self employed master plumber and growing up in a family business I can remember many of the words of wisdom and knowledge I received . Hopefully , I can share these little "snipits" of information and knowledge to "HelpOthersHelpThemselves".

    Guy from BOCES

I'm sure he is a fine person, although your opinion might be a litle biased.

This thread seems to be achieving the opposite effect to that which it's authors are hoping for.

IMHO, they'd do best to drop it.
