    3 piece cost and maintenence...

b@g got into the one piece water cooled pump late in the game - so they are not that common, you still need their bronse three piece pumps in heavey cast iron installs - like a gravity conversion, or a basement loop off a steam boiler - they do make a lot of other great stuff too, so dont count them out as a major player any time soon

    I use the B&G PL

series on larger pumping requirement jobs, mainly commercial applications. Less money than the wet rotor type of pumps in the larger sizes, as that type of motor is cheaper to manufacture than wet rotors, they tell me.

A bit noiser with the open frame motors, however. I would not use them in a wall mounted residential setting :)

I think it all depends on what your supplier carries.

We use the B&G NRF-22 whenever possible. The only problem I have is our local supplier only carries the NRF-22 and Series 100. If I need anything bigger than that, then I wind up going with Grundfos because that's what they stock. I would prefer to use B&G whenever possible, especially since the factory is only 30 or so miles away, but our local suppier winds up restricting my wishes.
