is it you, your installer, licensed electrician, homeowner or the plumber? i am from washington state, here it has been law to have a specialty hvac license that allows you to run low voltage and wire some line voltage, idaho is also requires a specialty license, theirs allows you to wire more related equipment. just curious how many of you are required by law to carry a electrical license to perform our work, wiring pumps ect. or do you do as we did years ago and just do it. the fines here can get pretty big. thanks marc.

    Licence

We are in washington state also and hold the licences for control wiring, we have an electrician do our line voltage as our license will not allow us to do it, and the fines can be up to $10,000.

In PA you don't need a license for anything so you can do whatever you want

    wiring

you are allowed to wire equipment that wires directly to the appliance, like a pump to the pump relay in the boiler, but cannot wire to auxillary relays ( taco as an example ) or lwco, high limits ect. are not in the scope of our license. marc

    do you need

a business license at least??? so who is liable for the work, how do you become compentent in your field, not saying you are not. but just because you have been doing it for ever doesnt mean it is done correctly. we have to have 24 hrs. of continuing education per every 3 yr license, also. so i currently carry 2 electrical licenses,1 for wa. state, 1 for idaho, gas and oil licenses as well.

    Tekmar

We do mostly multi zone outdoor re-set with Tekmar and do not use the boilers control to fire pumps, so thats why we have a line voltage electrician do the work.
And I have to have three licences journeyman card, electrical contractors licence and electrical administrator card

    not to sure

The Boro of Chambersburg requires a license for both electrical and plumbing -- they even have a special one for water heater installations. This fact does not seem to stop Lowes from selling water heaters to the good citizens of Chambersburg who by the way I read the rules should not be putting them in themselves. J. scheduling

the 01/02 electrician can be abit of a pain, seems like they can never be there at the same time, so you have to make a another trip to explain to the electrician how you need it wired to make everything work properly.

    Electrical schematic

That is what electrical schematics are for, we draw one for each job and leave it on site, we also leave a contact phone number for one of our techs so if the electrician has any questions he can call.
