DHW + Radiant heat + Solar +Viessmann Vitodens

Hello,
I posted here last year and received some great help but my project was delayed. Going forward again I'm looking for someone with experience in integrating DHW, radiant heat, thermal solar, using a Viessmann Vitodens boiler. I'm looking for someone who has experience with all or most of these applications who I can hire as a consultant to design this system but not to necessarily install it.
I am located in Northern California (Bay Area) and would prefer someone local but will definately consider others.

Thank you,
Gordon

  • If only you were near Swampeast MO! I'd give you a design that would raise the GERMAN Vito engineer's eyebrows.
  • Have you tried Alan Forbes?

Great California radiant company. He's done some Viessmann stuff too. Not too shabby.

    Help

I'd be happy to assist you Gordon, if you're not able to connect with an experienced Bay area designer/installer.

    Solar/Radiant/DHW/ w/vitodens back-up

We are currently working on a solar heating sysem in the mountains of Colorado that sounds like the mirror image of what you're planning. In fact we are ready to do the tie-in this week. The system consists of 2 separate banks of flat plate solar collectors. West bank has 6-4' x 8' collectors and the east bank has 6- 4' x 10' collectors. The system is a drain back water system (don't like glycol) that feeds to a 1400 gallon non-pressurized stainless steel storage tank. The tank in turn provides the heating (radiant w/kitec and wirsbo) and domestic hot water loads for the home. We are going to install a Vitodens 200 for back up.

What's really going to be unique with this system is that we are going to use the water (after treating it) in the solar storage tank directly into the radiant loops of the home. The idea being that we want to take advantage of ALL the heat the solar system has to offer.

Have you done a heat loss calc. yet? Get a hold of me if you would like to talk.
