QB180 question

Does anyone know who made the delayed/positive shut off oil valve for the QB burners? Had one today that leaked because the brass valve stem split. The unit ran all night with the oil running onto the floor, but thats a different thread. Took the head off, and the brass stem had a hairline crack invisible to the naked eye. Powered up the burner with the head off and oil shot out of the hairline. Couldnt see the crack but saw the oil spewing. When I magna-fluxed (Dye checked)) the stem, the crack appeared. What the heck is going on with that??? Why would that brass fail. Has anyone EVER had this problem??? Should I contact Weil/McClain? Could this be one of the reasons that they pulled those burners off the boilers? It sounds like some sort of defect that they need to hear about. I have NEVER seen anything like it on that or any other positive shut off valve. I'm a little nervous now since we have used alot of Weils with QB's. Anyone know whats going on here?

They where pushing them for a while and we had installed alot of them too.At first we where able to get all the parts then none where aval we where told some foundry that made the brass end rings on the blast tube and the whole noz **** and the funky slide adj. where out of business so we where told .We now when we have simalar promblems is to install a brand new burner or re built newer burner with all the goodies oil delay post and pre purge relay with intermittant ingition and set it up we do give then a excellent price on the deal for it's nobodies fault and we want to keepem happy right. Then use what ever parts we can to maybe keep another qb going till some thing goes you don't have parts for . When set up right they ran really clean good luck .peace clammy

You're right Clammy, they run like a charm as long as they are serviced. But this oil valve actually split open for no apparent reason. I was wondering if anyone else has seen something like this happen before. The boiler is clean, its the oil all over the floor thats a mess. As I said in my previous post, we have ALOT of these burners out in the field. My guess is it was a freak occurance. I guess I'll call Weil this A.M. to get their take on this. Thanks for responding Clammy.
