I have a ? about the pilot on the HWheater? At some point the basement was flooded and i guess the pilot went out. Attempts to re-light it fail. Now I have not been there so i dontwhat type of hot water heater it is but what are some things that could cause the pilot not to light?

depend's
If the unit was totally flooded and the gas valve was under water then it will be necessary to replace it. (gas valve that is) Another thought would be to verify the gas is turned on, pilot is not plugged, pilot line is not kinked or person trying to light it is doing it properly. Just watch for gas odor's in the basement!!! My opinion is it is easier to have a gas tech check it rather than keep playing with it and have someone get hurt!
Good luck0
