    zone valves

by far the best valve to stock is the honeywell v8043 series. easy to install and to troubleshoot. the motor, entire head and the internals can all be replaced easily.

    Zone Valves

I would agree with Bill on that too , the V8043 (Honeywell)zone valves are probably your best bet for ease of service , intallation . The entire power head is easily replaceable . One thought though , those screws that hold the motor in place are real real tiny , easily dropped into the most ungodly places.

The Taco ESP valve gets my vote. They are a compact state of the art valve with a good Cv rating. They are also very easy to wire and service. Best product to come around in a long time.

    Tom, just out of curiosity...

What kind of luck are you having with the newer generation of the ESP valves?

We used the first generation of ESP valves, and with all the problems there were with them, my company got away from them and won't touch them with a 10 foot poll. Due to this, I haven't had any experience with an ESP in two years.

I would also vote for the Honeywell

In fact, that is all we install in zone valve jobs.

    Taco . Esp . AI i Series s and i-Series r ....

the taco valve body accepts the heads from the set point and the out door reset model....now if you been installing the taco esp and had a couple go "south" dash back over to the house and offer an Up grade ..:)as i do mostly new construction i literally have it Dictationed:)

    ESP

    Hey Glenn,

I really didn't have many problems with the first generation. I have had no problems with the 02 since they came out the first of the year.

Maybe I just don't use the quantity that you use, or got some different batches, but I can't compain about the few I've had to replace.

I hope my luck holds out, because I'm really liking them.

    circulator

I put in circulators and flochecks. I would not take the job if they wanted to use zone valves.

I prefer the honeywell valve. I always reccomend when changing the valve assembly change the back plate as well.

I vote for white rodgers, they can be more difficult to troubleshoot, but seem to last for a long time, and dont cause water hammer like the honeywell.

    Thanks Tom.

We had a almost 100% failure rate with the dozen or so we put in. We had one customer that we changed the heads twice and still had a problem, so they demanded (and rightly so) that we rip them out competely, and put in Honeywell's. It did turn out the combo of these valves and W.R. t-stats we liked to use apparently would cause electrical problems. The good news is we put a couple ESP's in the company presidents house, and they have worked flawlessly. Go figure.
