Remote Temp Sensor For TStat. Where get?

thermostat located in an adjacent apartment. One tenant always complains that they are cold although the landlords apartment next to it where the thermostat is located is comfortable. Is there a set up where the temperature sensor can be located in one place and the temperature settings made in another. Is such a device available in a programable thermostat with 4 time zones per day?

yep.
You can get them with one or multiple remote sensors. You can do averaging, or set priorities for each.
First, you might want to check that everybody's getting the right amount of (I assume) air. You may just have a balance problem. Some people like to put furniture on top of registers and fiddle with the dampers.
If that doesn't do it, we'll need to know the type of system you have, and what all you want it to do.
Our friend Bill will probably be happy to get you some part numbers.0 -
It's not an air system. It is one pipe steam radiation.
Are sensors for that available?
Rather than just go for one remote, I would like it even more to have three remotes, and expansion capability for a couple more woundn't hurt.
If I could control the boiler from an average reading or be able to select any particular one at a given time, even better!
The building is 25' x 73' and two stories plus a basement (not concerned with heating basement.) House is frame with uninsulated walls. Windows are double pane, but not great quality.
I will try to switch around some radiators and check that everything is working properly, but part of the problem with that now is I don't know what the temperature is in the three tenant apartments. T Stat is in landlords apartment.
Tenant complaints are an indicator, but some people like it warmer than others, so sensors will be most helpful to finding out what is going on.
Complaining tenant is on first floor of unattached side of house. Basement mains were partly insulated last winter, making basement, and thus her floor cooler. Other side of house is attached, keeping it warmer. This tenant has one radiator filling with water also, sounds like a runnout not pitched properly. This is known and will get fixed.

Have you considered TRVs made for one-pipe steam? With one pipe steam you can easily "add" to the system. Start by placing them on the most offending (overheating) radiators.0 -

No, but it might not be a bad idea if the heat has to be turned up in the whole house to get it warm enough in one of the four apartments.
However, they might only work as designed in the landlord's apartment as the tenants can't be relied on with certainty not to open up the TRVs and then just open up the windows if it gets too warm. Hey, they'd be warm and cozy with lots of fresh air also.0 -
Steam Control Options
If you are simply looking for a thermostat with remote sensing capabilty and 4 event programmable setback schedule, I would suggest using a tekmar 510 Thermostat with 076 Indoor sensor.
Since this is a steam system, you may want to consider the tekmar 269 Steam Control for single steam boiler systems. It provides outdoor reset for the boiler and the option of connecting two 076 indoor sensors. Simply set the desired temperature on the 269 and the control will cycle the steam boiler to maintain the desired temperature. The 269 picks the cooler of the two indoor sensors to maintain temperature.
