Elavation of sealed combustion oil boiler

I have a building inspector requesting that I elevate a Buderus G115 with a Riello BF3 burner 18" off the floor. This is an oil fired sealed combustion direct vent located in the basement which is directly ajoining to the garage. I need any information from NFPA, NYS residential code and/or any other engineering sheets pertaining to this matter. I know from past experience that Carrier and Trane sealed combustion furnaces due not need to be elevated because the iginition is sealed.

Actually
our inspector told us that was repealed in the latest NFPA. Not sure if that was 31 or the standard for garages.Hmm
Ask him to cite chapter and verse so you can check it out!

The Buderus G115 is called "Direct Vent". It is recommended to have vacuum relief on the fresh air intake in case the fresh air vent gets plugged, buried, clogged, etc.....
A sealed combustion unit can be installed where it takes no air from the environment it is in.
Suggest the action as stated in above post. Consult with the local inspector.0 -
