Choosing a condensate HW circulator

I am replacing my 50yr+ Nat gas Steam boiler (153input)with a Dunkirk Plymouth Steam II (150 input).I've have/read Dan's books on the "lost art of steam" and the HW condensate section of the "how Come?" book. He suggests using a 3 piece bronze circ for the HW condensate loop that I'll heat the basement with. I plan on running about 12 ft of CI Baseboard, a 3 piece B&G is quite heavy/large, 20lbs and prob.pushes more water than needed.
Can any one suggest an appropriate circulator brands/models that would take care of this small section.
Will probably contract with an old timer in the neighborhood to put in the new boiler and the loop.

Thanks

    You could try

a bronze Taco 007 or something similar. But I doubt it would last as long since these "wet-rotor" units use system water for lubrication. Condensate can get pretty nasty at times and might cause a wet-rotor circ to fail.

The bronze B&G 100 and Taco 110 use oil for lubrication, therefore they don't have this problem.

If you use a bypass as Dan suggests, these circs won't move that much water thru the boiler.

    I agree with Steamhead

on not using wet-rotor circulators. But I would add upstream of the pump a Spirovent Drain device. Sort of like their air separator, I found this useful in taking out all sorts of visible solids, better than any fine-mesh strainer. Even a coupled pump will see some wear. Make sure the impeller is metallic (bronze) not the Noryl or other plastics.
