Carlin vs Beckett on Buderus

Member Posts: 17
I'm considering burner choices for a Buderus G115-34.
My options are -
Carlin EZ-Pro (EZ-1),
Beckett AFG,
Beckett NX
I recall folks having reasonable experience with the Carlin EZ-1 (Kevin, Ron), have heard mixed results regarding the Beckett AFG, and am hearing that the Beckett NX was designed specifically for this application.
I would like to use a direct connection for outside combustion air (not direct vent however). The Carlin has an optional air boot which looks somewhat like an after thought, the Beckett AFG has a connection through the cover but is not tightly sealed, and the Beckett NX provides a really nice integrated manifold and cover option.
My preference is towards the Beckett NX, given it was designed specifically for high static pressure applications typical of 3-pass boilers. I've heard that much testing has gone into this design and that it's been approved for the Biasi-SG, Buderus, Viessmann and some others still to be announced. My concern is that it's rather new and I've seen little posted about it good/bad. Also there is little information available with respect to required settings for any of these boilers. If anyone has information to share, specifically regarding Buderus applications, I'd really appreciate it.
I know that lots of folks prefer Riello, and I know that there are some real positives here, but it's not something I can consider right now.

another option....
even though I do use a lot of Carlin stuff is a Riello probably the burner of choice for most...The BF serries will allow you to draw in air to the burner and as a bonus is quite quiet. I am sure others will have more info...kpc

Blanced Flue
I would steer you away from the blanced flue burners if not needed . Unless boiler room full of contaminants...CO2 ajustment will change with outdoor temperature for one thing. I also notice a difference in the fire.....
If not a Riello(why not) then a Carlin.Have not used the NX0 -
BF
Big Ed,
You hit the nail on the head ...
Unfortunately numerous issues with BF attempt
Looking for other options -
Does the Carlin EZ-1 air boot fit and work well?
Beckett NX looks very, very interesting! Interesting that the NX calls for a 0.75 X 60°B at 175PSI for the G115-34.0 -
Go \"F\" if \"BF\" is a problem for you.
The Riello is a great match with the Buderus. have installed over 200 of them together w/great results. A number of them are BF, (the majority are not) and I have not seen a big change in operation, or had much for problems, except for the couple bad post purge controls a couple years ago. I'm not a big fan of direct vent, but have done a few. The rest of the BF ones were not direct vent.
Reillo is the only burner I use with Buderus boilers.

buderus w beckett nx
I have seen a beckett nx installed in a buderus 115/28, and the burner is running fine. This installation is 6-7 months old and is a chimney application. (Extremely quiet)0 -
Yes they come in colors.
When you buy the Buderus Reillo package together, the burners will be blue. Unless your supplier doesn't order them that way and just pulls a burner out of their Reillo stock. The right ones are not only blue but will have the right length burner tube and such to match the boiler you have. I would insist they get you the OEM burner.

Go riello
its the way to travel with a buderas ...the burner comes in riello blue:) for buderas.0 -
dose the OEM burner cost more or are they the same thanks0 -
beckett
The last buderus i installed was a g215 4 section we used a beckett but i though it was just a af g custom it cane with a 1.10 gph x 45 degree at 175 pump pressure max fire for the unit maybe a little over unit is rated 1.40 max .The burner ran quite sweet vented into a inside stainless all fuel flue i didn't think the burner was loud at all good luck peace clammyR.A.
