Started this one on wendenday and really got caught up in the rain with pullin the old stuff out and new stuff in .I also had one of those solid lime calium build up in the tank which is all ways some fun and some extra time .But had them hot water on the next day and finished her off friday early after noon .We did a complete cleaning of the area which is the best it's look as long as i can remenber . I also replaced the t /stat with digital programable and install a new honey well house prv the old watts frozen up on us so i replaced it and added a pressure gauge and a new ball valve after the meter before the reducer and one on the outlet side of the reducer .The boiler is a 215 4 section firing 1.10 45 es noz at 175 psi she ran quite well 12 co 350 stack temp 0 smoke clammy peace

some before stuff
Here's the old stuff hot water tank was shot leaking into the chamber but kept firing and the boiler chamber was shot bottom back side just about through the jacket they where long over due . We also removed the old water sftern it hadn't worked in years but the ho knew we where removing it so it got rid of the rest of the salt by loading it into the softern what a great guy we would have got rid of it for him had he asked but i guess we wouldn't know but i saw the bags on the side when i went and ayaed up the job a few days before people huh?Good thing it was now and not in the dead of the winter peace clammyR.A. Nice job. Before and after pictures tell the story! What do you think of the Beckett AFG?

AFG
We really only use beckett on the bigger stuff some carlins but the afg with 175 psi pump ran sweet and clean low stack awesome .Would like to see a better cover design for the burner that would make snaking the wire to the oil relay a little easier other wise they run great ,could use a longer blast tube on it,so bolting the burner to the plate is a little tight for my fat fingers .Awesome boiler every install i look at i just about sell all of them a buderus there are to many pluses that greatly over shade the rest of the market with the exception of the other euro based boiler comapanies.I,ve been happy with all the buderus stuff i've used i even install a gas boiler at my parents home but i'm waiting for there condensing gas boiler what's the hold up and there radiant block any info .Thanks for the kind words peaceR.A. I will pass your comments on to Beckett. I think this is their first attempt with a cover on the AFG.
The gas wall hungs are in final test stage!Looking for an October release. Not sure what you are refering to with regards to "radiant block".0 -
Flexible oil lines
Clammy,
Do the flexible oil lines run directly to the fuel pump under the AFG cover? If so, is there any concern about over heating in there? I'm considering a similar strategy for a Beckett NX and am wondering if it would be too hot under the cover for the flex lines, and perhaps even the Firomatic cutoff. There would be a second Firomatic and standard gate valve at the tank.0 -
Where did you find the blue handle bv's Do you know the manufacturer ?0 -
I thought you needed...
to be able to switch off the boiler with in easy reach from the burner, if you were working on the burner? The switch is on the wall...kpc

Hey Clammy,
what's the yellow bracket thing by the Tigerloop? Can't really make it out in pic.0 -
Did you need that size boiler? Looks like two zones what was the heatload? The job did come out very neat and clean, just looking for more info. The boiler just seems big but I was not there.0 -
Clammy does it again
I always love seeing your finished jobs , it always gives me ideas for future wall system work , if we ever get it . The flange on top of the circ - is that an all in one flange ? Or did you spin the ballvalve / drain into the flange ? And did you have to play around with the static plate or baffles to get the boiler to run to specs ?0 -
answering stuff
YES there is another boiler service switch by the burner and even though it,s only 2 zones 1 is a split supply ,return with a lot of baseboard the home is very loose .The original parts where like 80 or 90 years old with a bunch of add on some rooms on slab with stone walls and one room with all that and a catheral cieling it really did need it that big the old boiler on cold days would run 24 7 .The yellow bracket is for the filter and the tiger loop old tank hated the 2 pipe system that was there the flexable lines connect to 1/4 steel nipples right under the cover and that cover doesn't get even to warm to worry about before the filter there is a firematic witha fuseable handle . i spun all the webstones onto the nipples into the ells in one shot just popped off the handles .I once again humbbly thank every body for there kind words it's all the great stuff you guys post that motavate me to give the home owners some thing good and make them feel like they did get a good deal i stand behind every job i've ever done and i still service everything i've put in from boiler to roof top a/c systems in everything in life you must always strive to do bettwer that 's what makes every one who's a regular here one of the best and lets not forget our host dan the man who 's proabaly changed more hacks to mechinacs then carter has liver pills thanks again peace clammyR.A. Thanks ron
Thanks for the kind words ron that place had your name all over it as tight as a crabs well you know and as for the baffles and stack adjustments i've had to remove the baffles to raise the stack on 2 215 i,ve done going into mansonary chimmies as for this one adjusted the z dimension and air and away she went but it's a thing of beauty to have baffles i've haven't had to chisel the by pass from the combustion chamber to the thrid pass yet i don,t like the sound of it to tell ya the truth cause there's no turning back after you do it unless you have a extra virgin piece .i can't remenber what they called it .Also ron i missed you finished post on the budrerus you where doing .thanks again ron and you keep up the excellent tight work peace clammyR.A.
