Chimney Relining Questions

Do the newer more efficient boilers run better with a smaller chimney? I have seen this claim made by chimney liner manufacturers.

Is there a formula for calculating the optimum chimney size for a given boiler?

General rule of thumb for a BUDERUS boiler. Chimney size should be the same as the breech size of the boiler. This is refering to Buderus only - do not want to answer for the other manufactures. Suggest you call the manufacture of the equipment and inquire with them.
    Thanks

    Liner capacity

There is a reference that specifies what the heating capacity of a liner is with respect to it's diameter, height and lateral run. Does anybody know where it is located on the web?
I also think that there are some other factors to be considered like how many 90 elbows there are and whether it's a ribbed (flexible) or smooth liner.
