Sorry bout the spelling but had the weirdest ho yet was there in 99 and replaced everything after tellin them the boiler was shot thermotron 1000 stack no chamber flue goes through the sheet rock wall and into a double wall all fuel that drops into the garage some one screwed up on the chimmey lacation .HO wants the best and asked for the cheapest unit 7 years the busted my nuts with the most stupid queation i,ve ever heard and for a bigger laugh he would spend 4000 grand 5 years ago went babbling on how he's going to do geotherm when he lives in rockland county and who home is on a rock i told him if you can't afford 4 or 5 on a new oil system how about 10 to 15 on a gea therm that probaly won't last as long as a new boiler and who pay back time woulkd be in the 30 years span the original boiler is about 28 to 35 years old is this guy out of his m,ind or what when i told hiom the boiler and tank should last at least 20 years on the boiler with proper maintance and 10 to 15 on the indirect he said i hope it last longrer then thqat like 30 to 40 years where do these people have in there skulls saw dust clammy peace beware some ho are worst then us (insane) peace

IN this area

In this area there are many grand ole vapor vacume system that where converted or destroyer by those with a lack of knowledge .Sorry about the no period thing i,m workin on it . But most are very unaware of anything to do with there steam systems it's all a hard sale even to change some rad vents or a main vent they are impossible to educate.I have jobs with vent on them that are 50 to 75 years old .As for the confused ho he's past confused and totally insane he wanted a price over the phone without any one coming over and stated that we should be able to give him the price sight unseen and as for maintance tuesday was the first cleaning from the last visit in april 99 by me so unlike fine wine time does not heal a old never maintaned unit .Besides the flue issues this home is a prime example of builders cheapnest 1/2 pipe to all the baseboard air promblems up the wazoo and a by pass feed line that they just open when there's baseboard noises .Oh yeah besides that and the no money thing how about a bmw suv and and a coulple of newer cars in the driveway .Iguess when the boiler drops out completly then they will have to really worry there shopping for the cheapest and it won,yt be me installing it but i'll bet 50 bucks that 1 hour after the plumbers done he'll tell the ho to call the oil co and have them do the oil lines and wire it cause they really don,t do oil .Then the fun begins ho always refuses to pay for the wiring and oil lines and start up figures it's in the oil price to do so gotta love it insane.

Not many around, but not one I've looked at was working properly. Tons of money spent of traps and condensate pumps when usually all they need was a Vaporstat and a new main vent.

Hope you did'nt take my post to badly. I meanat it with a smile. Sometimes it is tough to read though.

After reading your post, it is tough to deal with some customers. Some Think they know, some DO Know, and some have No Freakin Idea.

And Some, need you and I to sit down and hold their hand and tell them what can and can not be done. Whats in thier best interest. We need to educate ourselves so we can tell them the best information.

On the other hand, You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

After hearing what they "think" they want, I try to explain things to them in "layman terms" usually this helps them understand things a little better, also I can get my ideas/thoughts across without making the HO/customer not look like a dummy .

Sorry to say the ho won't change the boiler he truely thinks there is nothing wrong that where lieing to him .I personally hoped the last guy who was there should have left the switch off and tagged it and if the ho wanted it on that he takes all liablity of running the unit ,but i believe it's still running and shall be till some thing terrible happens oh well .Scot no offensive taken peace clammy
