use constant circulation with the Buderus room sensor? Is it worth the effort?

The Buderus Room sensor works very well with a system like radiant heat or the large cast iron radiators. Constant circulation usually provides more comfort, less temperature swings and less heating system expansion noises.

If used in a baseboard system the room sensor should be placed in the "coldest" zone. Location of the room sensor is important because it will modulate the water temperature for the entire system (unless the Logamatic has the optional mixing module FM241).

If there are any questions with regards to location or use, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-283-3787.

It depends. I put one in on a single zone split level with baseboard heat. The customer said she noticed the diffrence in how much quieter the baseboard is (due to less expantion and contraction). And how much more even the temp in the house was from room to room and floor to floor. I also put one in on a two zone split level with baseboard. Room sensor is on top floor and regular t-stat connected to zone valve in basement. I ended up having to add baseboard in basement, their was not enough to keep up with low water temp. I do think they are worth it most of the time. Including when I had to add baseboard.

Mike, i am interested in your comment. Do you feel you had sufficient flow through a zone valve? I am sure you were operating the pump for the main floor but I wonder about the delta t on the basement floor. Usually it suffers when the circ is asked to pump both floors when one floor is run thru a zone valve. Path of least resistance.

    buderus room sensor

I had a similar experience using the room sensors. We retrofitted an existing house with a complete buderus heat andhot water system. We added radiant to a new tiled rec. room and a new garge below using ceiling radiant. As part of the project I took the existing baseboard zones and ran all 3 off of one centrally located sensor. The radiant zone ran off a sensor as well and was connected to a 4 way valve. We took the time to balance the existing zones and it worked perfectly. The funny part is that we left the job - no call backs for a while. The homewoner later called because they were doing another addition and could not fathom doing anything but radiant. I went to measure the room and when I got there I noticed the garage was cold. I asked why they shut off the garage. They explained that it had not worked since we left but they were so happy with the way the rest of the house was working that they didn't want to bother us with the garage! It ended up being that the cube relay in the Taco circ. relay was loose. I pushed it in and everything was fine. All in all the senors work great. If you use one for multiple zones you may have to balance or add some heat as stated in the post above.
