hot water question

Hey guys need some input i have a hot water system that i need to replace the boiler it is 85000 btu single pipe system with fin tube thru out should the circ pump be put on the supply or the return right at the boiler or just before the boiler

    this should be fun to watch!

    I have alway's been taught to pump away..Put the pump on the supply side. Let's see what everyone else say's..:)

    Ok, I'll bite

    Sounds like a small system with low head loss with a small pump...probably a 007 or a 15-42 on a cast iron boiler. Assuming this is the case, where you put the pump isn't as important as where you tee the expansion tank into the system. Plumb the expansion tank before the suction side of the pump and you're fine.

    My question is about the loop. Is it one loop. one zone ?

    If so, its to long for one loop and should be split.

    Ok guys the pump is a B&G very similar to a 007 if you can picture this if you are standing looking at the front of the boiler the supply comes right off the top and the return comes off the right side if i come off the supply and as soon as i go horizontal with the supply tee in to the expansion tank then just after the expansion tank maybe six inches mount my pump and connect the outlet side of pump to the existing supply which goes to the fin tube around the house.
