here's a look at the old stuff
though i'de post a couple of befores .The old unit had a few install promblems like the way it was installed you had to bust the cement job to check the chimmey base or clean the flue pipe absoultly no isolation valves, a tankless coil which had limited water production and had been acid cleaned a few times beside the storage tank pump deal which the pump was shot and the tank limed up the unit was about 16 to 18 years old and was starting to show signs of section leakage .The long 2 pipe oil line where never a blessing when the tank ran low lots of co2 cartiridges and plenty of hand pumping .The zone valves just didn't get the flow to the 2 nd floor baseboard nor to the 1 st floor split loop zone and would always cycle the circ low limit which is also wired in on the new boiler i,m a big fan of triple aquastst with low limit circ protection never seen to many dirty or wet boiler that have them we also installed a thimble i hate to see furnace cement on a flue entering a mansonary chimmey peace clammyR.A. DWH
I would like to know the model number of the pump used on the DHW tank and how you decided to use that model. Thanks Paul0 -
Thats an awesome looking install.

dwh
The pump is a taco 007 ifc i used the infromation supplied by buderus to size the pump basically 8gpm with 1 inch supply and return most indirect tank manafactors will give you the correct pump sizes .Using a pump instead of a zone valve gives you quicker recovery and higher out put over a zone valve and with a taco zone pump controller you can set it up for priority domestic hot water and thanks forall the kind words from all peace clammyR.A. Clammy Nice Job
I like that install. The way you tied the point of no pressure change in, the Spirovent will never squirt out any water. I have been piping them that way for a long time. Your customer will see a night and day difference. I like that blue panel also.

DHW
Thanks for the info on the DHW pump size. I am installing a Budrus system and I will have more questions. Hope you don't mind. Thanks Paul0 -
Very Nice Job!!..... Tiger loop question
Clammy,
Very nice job, keep up the good work. I like the tiger loop. Why go with the tiger loop and two pipe? Why not do one pipe into the burner? What are the advantages of a tiger loop? I have sceen them before but never talked to the installer. I don't know much about them, just curious.

Nice work
I like the low water cut-off and brass nipples.
Great job on the panel. Did you make the tiger loop bracket ?
Keep up the good work.

Beauty !
I like the brass too. Also, all the black pipe is the way I like to do things as well. Only, I hang the Extrol from the bottom of the Spiro and feed there as well. I'm afraid to use alot of nips or offset like that. If the Extrol blows, I'd be afraid to snap the brass off. I use a brass nipple, brass tee for the water feeder, another brass nip, and a butterfly stop and waste to relieve the pressure in case I ever have to remove the Extrol. Then hang the extrol from the s&w. Beautiful, neat, level job clammy. No need for a clambake here.0 -
makin stuff
i totally hate filters and or tiger loops hanging in the breeze so i always try to make some sort of bracket i usually just use whats floating around the shop and there is a isolation valve on the water feed and expansion tank i was in a little bit of a hurry near the end but i'll put a split ring on the 1/2 brass and sturdy her up a little just about every boiler i do is pretty much the same just more or less zones thanks again for the kind words and paul just keep asking like my dad always said you just don,t wake up one day and know it all you got to read and learn always peace clammyR.A. tiger loops
The reasoning for a tiger loop is to cut vacume down on the pump and to not re circ oil to the tankand still have the advantages of a two pipe that bleeds it self .When your fuel pump pulls more then 12 " of vacume your pump can start to cavitate whick usually set off the reset or gives you a sputting flame plus your pump doesn,t have to work so harh and you don't raise your oilk tank temp by dumping cicrulting oil into the tank with a tiger loop yopu only pull in the oil your burning very excellent tool for long line runs and high vacume peace clammyR.A. Ahh , Clammy
You do excellent work , man . Don't tell me this was another one man miracle ? Are my eyes deceiving me or are there purge valves built into those isolation valves above the circs ? The blue wall panel really highlights your work . What an improvement from the Weil 68 and aquabooster .0 -
what's up ron
yes those are purge valves on the outlet of the pumps there webstone and with the purge there about 2 bucks more yes it is a improvement from what was there and yes mostly me and one of tne fuel drivers and he's a little slow on the go has been a little sick but he does quality stuff no do over only excellence from him a pleasure to work with also i removed the baffles to get a higher stack temp of about 370 and a co of 11.5 she's running about 86 with the baffles her stack was only a little over 300 left the .85 60 b hago but i should have replaced it with a delevan 85 60 b or checked her out with a 45 i've used 45 on the g115 and they ran excellent with becketts didn't come with the post pre relay though just intermittant ingition thanks for the complaiments check out the old steam thread peace clammyR.A.
