I would like to know if any of you nice folks have used the carrier wireless thermostat system for a residential home. I have a gas fired boiler hydronic system with 4 zones (24 V) and i would like to know if the wireless is reliable and compatible with my system. Thank you . Jim

    Wireless thermostats

If your are refering to the Totalline remote, I did install one on a SpacePak unit in an older home. We had trouble with it short cycling and I replaced it under warranty and the second one worked for the remainder of the cooling season. This spring when we went to start up the unit it started doing the same thing, my wholesaler said that there must be something in the house causing interference and there was nothing we could do about it. I liked the stat, but I would make sure the home owner doesn't have a bunch of high end electronics or wireless stuff in the house. I am waiting to find someone else to try out the pre-owned one I now have.

Rick, the Carrier wireless thermostats can be used with the receiver which would be near the boiler. Up to 4 tsats per receiver can be used. I would use them for heat only to control 4 circulators thru a taco relay. Any suggestions and comments from anyone who used them will be great. thanks jim

    Honeywell also makes a wireless...

It's our T8665A1002, and it works with the W8665A1009 receiver for any 1 stage heat/1 stage cool single zone application. Stat will communicate anywhere within 200 feet of the receiver. Available from any Honeywell distrbutor, check www.honeywell.com/your home, and type in the part number for more info.

    wireless thermostat

Thanks for the info bill. Would this system work If I used 2 wireless tsats with the receiver and 2 seperate WIRED stats with all of them tied into a taco relay panel SR504 (panel is installed allready)to make up a 4 zone system with circulators. The 2 wireless would be for the second floor so I dont have to run wires. The third and fourth would be for the first floor and basement which would be wired to the taco relay panel. thanks jim

    It's one stat...

per panel. The W8665A wires up just like any stat R,C,Rz,W, Y, G, with W being heat relay, Y being cooling contactor and G being the fan relay. RZ is a 24 volt system transformer, with a factory-installed jumper between R & RZ. It can be used as a convenience terminal. If you'd like to see some wiring diagrams, go to http://hbctechlit.honeywell.com and type in the W8665A for a tech sheet.
