system. my question is how do I get multiple water tempetures for radiant and snow melt? weil has provisions
for domestic hot water. any ideas?

mixing valves
Use a mixing valve for each of your zones. That will allow you to set up each temp as needed then set your boiler to ample temp to cover...:)0 -
Depends on the,
Temps. needed for each zone.
Obviously, the DHW zone will take full temp. firing. The rest of the zones will depend on the design temp. needed for each zone, and the ability to get each one right.
We've done mixing stations, with zone valve heads for one temperature, and another station with zone valves for another temp. I've also done straight mixing/tempering valves for individual zones. I guess the deciding factor is how many different temps. do you need and what will the sensors be? Tile will take less temp. than wood floors need, and hydro-air needs more than both(sometimes).Air sensors or floor sensors?
For the snow melt, go with an appropriately sized flat plate or indirect heater.( The systems should not share the same water.)
So many variables, and choices. Chris0 -
Try to design the radiant zones...
to be as close to the same temp. as possible.
If you can get them within a few degrees of eachother than your set... if not then the mix valves will be needed.
The domestic with the Ultra like you said is no problem and the snowmelt with a flatplate shoud easily run at whatever you have to have for the radiant.
BTW are you a homeowner or a contractor?????
What your about to do is not for beginners.....don't mean to insult anyone, but if it ain't done right, it ain't gonna work.....

I'am a supply house salesman. have many radiant systems
out but have never used the ultra in this application.
I'am leaning toward using the taco set point 3-way
valve for the radiant zones.0 -
Tekmar has a new control for modulating boilers and more specifically it works well with the ultra. I believe it is the 363 or 263 either way it controls the setpoint of the boiler instead of on off logic. It also has snow melt options. I could be wrong about those model numbers but your local Tekmar rep knows about the new control and is probly very happy to give you info.0
