My old house

from a week in Rochester NY working on my old house. We are renting it to some college students this year and letting my daughter stay there and run the house while she goes to school. The house was built in 1920 and is built like a tank. I had to buy an extension for my hole saw when drilling a hole for my A/C refrig lines, because the wood was 8 inches thick just above the block foundation. What I found about the electric lines was interesting. We had all of the electric lines replaced for safety sake (the old wire was cloth covered), but it was easier than I could of imagined because the whole house was run in conduit. I thought this odd until a cousin who used to live in the neighborhood told me that the conduit was originally the gas lines for all of the gas lights that used to be in the house. They just ran wire through the old gas pipe when they brought in the electricity to the house. Old houses are so cool. We added a new powder room, installed central A/C and added some new windows. The only thing I couldnt fix was the creaky stairs. Underneath the stairs is encased in plaster, and I wasn't prepared to make that mess at this time. Good to be back though I missed my wife and my computer. (in that order) WW
