Concord Furnaces

Does anyone have an opinion about Concord Furnaces? I have a contractor that wants to substitute Concords on a light commercial job for Trane/Carrier/Lennox which are specified. They claim it is an Armstrong product and is the same as a Lennox. What think you?

Concord is a division of Armstrong...
and Armstrong is owned by the same company that owns Lennox Industires. If youare talking Oil furnaces, than a Lennox oil furnace is an Armstong with a Lennox name tag thrown on it. If we are talking gas, then they Lennox and Armstong/Concord ar quite different. I personally have no problem with Armstong units, in fact my employer switched from Lennox to Armstong about 5 years ago because Lennox heating units were so problamatic. I'm not sure of the exact differences between Armstong and Concord, but you can go to www.aac-inc.com and click on Armstrong, then Concord and figure out the differences.0 -
Concord/Air-Ease/Armstrong
Around here, Concord is a brand we typically find in a modular home. Smart Valve ignition on the ones I've seen. Pretty much just a standard lightweight gas furncae. None of the major mfr's. are what you would call heavy duty or commercial grade anymore. Thermopride has without doubt, the heaviest gauge gas furnaces of any manufacturer today.0 -
Good low end furnace
No frills, been reliable for us. The "B" models have no Dumb Valve, just a standard 2 wire Honeywell valve with all else on the main board.
Actually given the problems we've had with the boards on the American-Standard/Trane furnaces, I think I'd rather have the Concord over the Trane.
They are not the same as Lennox, the are virtually identical to the similar Armstrong furnace.0
