Wetstock V fundraising

as we always do, and this time the money we raise will go to the Oil Heat Cares project to help it get up and running (it's already up and jogging). You can read more about the project in Judy Garber's post on the upcoming Oil Heat Cares Benefit Seminar post.

Would anyone would like to donate an item for a silent auction? Oil Heat Cares is going to help a lot of Americans who need a hand right now - people out of work, people who have a spouse off to war, people with sick kids.

I'd really appreciate the help. If you have something to donate, please post it here. Thanks.

  • Don't want to cheapen the auction but,,,

I've got a whole bunch of equipment that is somewhat used and in great shape. Is this stuff suitable for the auction? ; (Tekmar controls, Spirovents, Taco Circs, Wirsbo Equip. ETC.) Slightly used but cleaned up and in good condition.

    Anyone else?

Oil Heat Cares has already done a complete heating system for a family here on Long Island. The 16-year-old son jumped in a pool last summer and broke his neck. The community got together and made the entire house wheelchair accessible. The local heating guys gathered together to redo the heating, which was badly needed.

In Eastern PA, there's a non-profit organization called Helping Hands that works with children with disabilities. Their heating sytsem is shot and they don't have the funds to replace it. The local heating professionals are doing the job on their own time, and Oil Heat Cares is paying for all the equipment (bought from a local wholesaler).

That's the sort of work Oil Heat Cares is doing. Anything you can donate will go into the fund. ALL of the money goes to buy equipment for people in need. Americans helping each other on a grassroots level.

Much, much more to come because this is a good way to live a life.

    Will help? Thanks.

  • for everyone;

I've gone out of my way to make this stuff CLEAN. Rhomar cleans this stuff up really nicely. I wouldn't put it up if I knew there was anything wrong with it.

I'll try to come up with some more stuff any WetHead might bid on. Even if it fetches only $5.00 ,,, We tried. Good stuff CHEAP!

    non plumbing stuff

    Dan,

Do you auction off things that wetheads can use but are not plumbing? If so, I can kick in a few copies of some Microsoft software.

    Dan

Did the Hooters gift certificate some with the maple syrup ? How did I miss that.

I have some stuff around the shop I'll bring along. I think I have some Tekmar thermostats we got for a job and did'nt use. Brand new.

If not I'll buy a new control or two and bring them along.

Maybe a Lobsta dinner, ya thats the ticket.

    I'll be there.

    Scott

    How about a \"classic\" truck?

I have a 1969 Ford F-100 with a straight 6 300 hp motor and a three on the tree. Its got a utility body on it and has seen literally TONS of boilers on the back. It belonged to a fuel oil co. here in N.J. Its in need of some TLC and could really be a great restoration project for somebody who would be willing. Its not in terrible shape for its age(unlike me)I've been delaying selling it as its going to break my heart when I do.As a matter of fact, I would probably keep it if it werent going to a worthy cause. If it goes to something like this, it would ease the pain tremendously. Not sure if its something you could use but I know in my heart it would be going to help someone who is down on their luck. If you can use it let me know and we'll make some kind of arrangements. Also, is there some way to get involved as a voluteer on these projects in my area. How would I go about it?

We could put it up for auction right here on the Wall. Got a photo?

    only problem I have is

Its 70 miles away so I'll go up this weekend and snap some shots. I'll be up there working anyway. I live on the beach and the truck is 6 miles outside NYC(near Giants stadium) Maybe someone nearby who knows how to post photos can stop by the garage and give me a hand. The truck is in Rutherford, N.J. I dont know how to post photos(I'm a computer dummy) So we'll have to work around that too. Do I need a digital camera? I dont want this to become a hassle for you or anyone else. It would be FANTASTIC if this panned out.Any help would be appreciated. Would this be a tax deduction?(Sorry I hadda ask). Its NOT a requirement. You can consider it yours. I'll contact NAOHSM w/ regard to helping out. Is Mr F. Taverna still active in NAOHSM that you know of? Hes another great guy.I'll call him today.

    my pleasure

Its the every least I could do to help the cause. After all you and your publications and this websight have helped me in the basement more times than I could ever begin to mention. Theres no way I'll live long enough to ever repay you. I'll get on those pics A.S.A.P Maybe in the meantime someone will read these posts who I can bring the pictures to in my area who can help me post them and get the ball rolling. Sorry, I hope its not an inconvenience. Also, I have a donation for your museum as well. Some time ago I believe I asked you about a radiator I have. Its a cast iron 4 tube rad. with an electric element screwed into the bottom tapping. Its not some makeshift deal as far as I can tell. It actually says "Jiffy Electric Radiator" It appears to be specifically made for the purpose it is serving as the element has a dial for temp. setting. Its actually pretty neat. That being said, if you find this orphan on your door step, you'll know where it came from.I'll keep you posted on the truck.

Some help from our friends at Field Controls!

Hey Dan, I just got off the phone with my good friend Chris Moore from Field Controls As he was confirming all the great stuff they are sending to the new Oil Tech Talk Training Center. I could not help but to mention to him the raffle for Oilheat Cares.

Chris is delighted to take part in helping you with your effort. So, Fields is shipping you a CAS-3 Fan in the can which is a great device when you need to bring some combustion air into the room.

I bet this beauty will bring home some nice bucks for Oilheat Cares!
