Need advice from the pro's...

Choose any toilet with the G-Max flush system. The most popular 2-piece toilet out here is the Drake; they also just came out recenty with the Eco-Drake which uses even less water; 1.4 gallons I think.

Shower valves? I like Grohe (German).

    Bathroom renovation

I've heard you folks recommend the Toto as the best toilet out there...any particular model or accessories you recommend? Also, whose hot/cold/ shower/tub spigot diverter valve is good? Any favorites? I'm off to the plumbing supply house showroom this weekend with my "owner" and I'd like to have some solid info to get past the pretty displays & marketing hype. Thanks in advance!

    I agree with Alan

The G-max is the way to go and we use the Drake. If you want an older look the Providence is a good toilet.

We also use the Symmons shower valve, but Grohe is really well amde product.

    Western...

Western pottery makes the #1 for gravity flush according to PMMag tests. I've installed several dozen and like the china. Low cost, too...

Toto is a good toilet, but also...

...I like Universal-Rundle (the Atlas model). It's not a fancy designer toilet, but it flushes great. I lived in apartment with one of these toilets for two years, and it never clogged up. It's a simple but elegant design, in my opinion, and it's inexpensive. Best toilet for the money. As for shower valves, I would go with Symmons. They're reliable, time-tested and service parts are easily available. Symmons has also designed new trim options (the standard trim hasn't changed in years and had an insitutional look).

    Look at

Grohe on the valving. Absolutely the best I've used so far. You might want to take a look at the Kohler Cimmeron as well, it has a huge 3" throat that just drops the water. Toto has great reviews as well but I don't seem to find them asteticly pleasing (as far as a toilet gets). If you need any help, drop me a line.

    Thanks, Robert.

In a "previous incarnation" I worked with Speakman's safety showers and eyewash fountains. Built like a battleship, tha's for sure.

    Bill, I agree with

the Kohler Cimmaron closet, that 3 inch trap is the biggest in the business....the print add for it shows three "wide bodies" all eating the 48" grinder, need I say more. I also endorse the Symmons Temptrol series, the pioneers of pressure balancing remain about the best.
