why not cut the pipe 2 feet above the vanity you want to install and offset the floor penetration to clear the vanity and make your self a "towel warmer"?

    Selection and Finding Steam Radiators

In hot water, there are all kinds of decorative and designer radiators. Do such things exist for steam? I would like to put some small radiators in bathrooms that currently have a heat riser pipe. There is very little room to install a radiator anywhere... I was considering something wall mounted.

Could anyone direct me to where I might find a selection of small and preferably decorative and modern looking steam radiators? Tanks, Tom

you could always use a two foot section of cast iron baseboard. c.i. free standing radiators are back in vogue.

    They make modern ones

go to www.steamradiators.com to see the two I know of. I haven't used them, but I think Alan Forbes (California Radiant Wizard) did and they worked well for him.

    Using baseboard

    Hi Bob,

I was thinking of that. I have very little space around the base of the bathroom though. I was thinking of mounting it high on the wall, but I'm afraid the room might not heat very well that way. Any thoughts on a high mounted radiator?

Another thought I had was to mount it inside a new vanity I want to install. The vanity would keep the heat from circulating though. I wonder if I made a hole in the side of the vanity and a couple of holes in the doors and put decorative screen in the holes, if the room would warm up OK?

The bathroom has a 2" heat riser pipe now acting as a radiator. It works OK but it rises in a corner and I would like to install the largest vanity I can fit (about 30" wide) and the riser pipe would prevent it from going all the way into the corner.

    Nice looking, but wow...expensive!

Those are nice looking radiators, Steamhead. But they sure are expensive. Yikes!

I'd like to be able to sell some unneeded conventional looking radiators I have for that kind of money. I'll probably wind up bringing them to the scrapyard.
