OIL BURNER TEMP TOO HIGH

Bill Julian
Bill Julian Member Posts: 162
Just installed a warm air furnace (I dont do enough oil boilers) the flue temp is reading 675 degrees when I close the air bands almost all the way the temp goes down to about 600. Its still firing to high temp. The system is brand new I have the draft reg set okay think the nozzle could be delivering to much oil? What say you?

Thanks

Bill J

    all the instruments?

What is overall efficeincy and what is the AFUE rating on this fwa furn? Yiu can throttle draft w' the barometric regulator to keep more heat in the furnace.Maintain a 50% drop through the furnace. eg -.o4 @ breach -.02 overfire.
675 is not out of the realm for temp'. Make sure you're not overfiring the unit. Check pump pressure and nozzel and make sure you're w'in mfg specs.

Hi Bill, This could be a number of things. What does the manufacture say the stack temp should be? Also you mentioned draft is set ok. what is it over the fire and at the breech? What is maximum firing rate and what are you firing in it? what is the fuel pump pressure?

While we're at what were all your combustion reading my friend?

Is the duct work sized correctly?

A little more info and I'm sure we can help you out.

nah...even scortched air with forced draft....

id be looking for a much lower stack temp.if you are over firing it the heatexchanger isnt gonna like it , you need to recheck pump pressures nozzel size. do you have forced draft? then maybe you might need to look to if something is stuck and isnt opening and closing properly. is it a two pipe system? the inside pipe is cooled by the incomming air .... i do not know what btu output you are talking about however 550¡ãF should be plenty of stack temp .

    Something else to check,

flow through the exchanger(delta T) and as stated previously, the duct sized properly, cold air returns, etc:
