I think the reason puny men rule the planet is that we tell stories and the smart ones listen, besides making alot of my own mistakes I listen to stories here and at work and avoid a few more mistakes. Good for you to share one. I was in a hurry helping someone diagnose a problem over the phone, very risky, and take voltage readings, told them to take the sec. wires off the tfmr, still a problem. I went there to see that the sec. wires were oem fixed or were and now were broken off as I had suggested. Problem turned out to be a loose neutral in an overhead junction box. Ask the WA techs how many bad furnace blower motors they have replaced to then watch the flames blow arround showing a bad heat exchanger, what a sick feeling. An honest person will then eat the labor and new part, boy do you remember that!

    A Lesson Learned

"Man i felt like well u know what i mean." For the short time you felt this way you have learned a lesson you will not forget. I can't count the times similar things have happened to me and they still happen but luckily they only happen once. Remember when you have 20 years on the job will it be 20 yrs of learning or 20 yrs of coming in every day. There is a big difference.

    Your aquastat adventure :)

    Jay,

The first thing I see in your post is you willingness to share you experience with all, which means that you really did learn from it. As do we all from reading it.

If you ask 10 experienced guys here (me included) if anything like this ever happened to them, 9 of them will say sure it did, and they will tell you their similar story.

Oh yea, and the 10th guy who said it never happened to him. He is a liar.

You have the right to make mistakes all the time and learn from them.

The real trick is just doing them ONCE.

    Regards,

    Ed Carey
