    Don't know your current knowledge level, but I'd suggest first learning about the general methods and how they differ in operation, variability, efficiency, cost, complexity and presumed comfort.

    need to be in control?

    I would suggest learning the basics of controls through
    "Burkhardt's Bible". This will cover BASIC oil burner controls. Each control you buy comes w' an instruction leaflet. Follow the factory wiring and the field supply wiring. Don't know your level or whether you're oil/gas or HVAC. There are more controls out there than grains of sand on the beach. Good luck w' your ongoing pursuit to 'be in control'.

    Go to your local heating and control suppliers. Ask about training classes. These are usually given by the manufacturers. Taco, tekmar, honeywell, just to name a few. Many of the classes are free, some with small fees. For about $100 you can get a 2 or 3 day tekmar class. Comes with books, CD's, lunch. A good deal. Wirsbo , Taco, Kitec, ect. give factory training. You will have a great time. They will wine and dine you while you learn.

    There was an error rendering this rich post.

    Thanks for the plug Bill. You

    also need this website;
    http://hbctechlit.honeywell.com/

    NO HVAC or heating guy in the world should not have it on his/her computer as a favorite. It is the most essential resource of them all. Just plug in the number of the control in question and sit back. All of the other control people out there do an outstanding job, but ist's till big mama that you run into the most.

    BTW, Carol Fey's books are good for the basics and the NORA OTM ain't too bad neither ;-).

    me I have all the books and manuals on heating, electricity, systems, controls, wiring and codes you will need for most applications. My area of expertise is gas but we offer much more. E-mail me at gastc@cox.net we will start you off with a FREEBIE OF YOUR CHOICE and then you can go from there.

    I would suggest you start slow and realize you can not learn everything in one day.

    For oil you have been directed to my friend George at Firedragon Enterprises.

    Keep hanging out here on the wall and also Oiltechtalk and listen and learn.
