Old honeywell zone valve wireing

I was sent on a job to wire up some old honeywell zone valves that I have never seen in my life before, there was no model number or wireing diagram...
The valve was big and clunky (24v) and looks to have an incorperated end switch. 5 wires... 1 white, 2 black and 2 red. I did manage to get the valve to open but it did not spring return so I am assuming it should be power return. Seems odd because they are run by a 2 wire thermostat.
If I powered up the 2 blacks the valve looked like it was opening properly, if I powered up the white and black the valve just kept rotating.
Unfortunatly the plumbers removed the wireing for a reno now it's up to the electrician to figgure out how they work. Any one know these beasts?

Without a base number this could be hard,
if you can find one go here, it's THE place to start.

Don has disappeared
Oh well this goes on all the time here on the Wall. Ask a question and then disappear. I will try to e-mail Don to see if I can help him out.
For those who may be wondering the Zone Valve he had is a V-8031 Honeywell Zone Valve, yes it uses a two wire series 80 thermostat. There was a comparable model back in those days the V2031 which used a three wire thermostat.
The 8031 is powered open and springs closed on more close observation it may be noted that terminals are labeled "W" "B" and "Y" Thermostat goes to W & B and the transformer is wired B to Y. The remaining two terminals are the end switch which go to "T" "T" on the relay.
The V-2031 was a power to open power to close model.0 -
