This is my frist time posting on here.Is there a book or a web site that has good, understandable info on how to install Radient floor heat? We're going to build a log home down the road and thats the heat we want to put in our home. Is that warmboard sub floor any good? The subfloor with grooves for the pex.We live near Toledo,Ohio. There's not alot of Radient heat around here.Very far and few between. My Father-in-law has it in his house. Thank-you for all the info and your time.

There are many ways....
....to install radiant heat. The method selected has more to do with the type of construction than with which product/method is better. A well-designed system will give energy efficiency, comfort and long, trouble-free operation. A poorly designed/installed system will be a nightmare that may never work properly at all.
An experienced heating professional is needed to ensure you get a good job. That said, many pros will allow the homeowner to get involved with such aspects of the job as installing the tubing - once the contractor has demonstrated the correct procedure. The contractor will supervise this aspect of the installation and make sure all is being done correctly.
The rest of the install, including boiler, boiler piping, controls, etc. are most definitely best left to a pro, as is system start-up and maintainence.
Feel feel to contact me at jerhardt@slantfin.com and we can give you some guidance and refer you to heating pros in your area.0 -
shameless plug
We can help, with custom designs and instructions; however as the previous poster says you definitely need a pro to handle the heat source installation and connection.
End shameless plug

Speaking of blatant plugs...
Here's a blatant plug. For a contractor near you. Check him out. http://andystackandsons.com/ He's in the Find A Pro Slot on the sidebar. Punch in your zip code and don't be afraid of his steam heat inclination. He's all about water.
Check out Rehau or Thermofin before getting in bed with the warmboard buddies. Better stuff, for sure. You might be able to afford a better boiler if you don't do warmboard. Google them.
Geez, this place is almost like the RPA board before all the hellfire raineth down.
