hot water baseboard loop off a steam boiler

Can I get a hot water loop from a steam boiler by taking the water that is below the water line of the boiler and pumping it through a baseboard heat loop? There is an indirect domestic HWH already piped this way in the system.

Do I need to isolate them with a heat exchanger, the baseboard will be on the third floor above the boiler in the basement? What about expansion tank, fill valve, back flo 9D, etc., etc.?

What is the maximun load That can be served this way?

Any other considerations?

Thanks in advance for everyones help!

Being on the 3rd floor , the loop might be too high to run off the bottom of the boiler . A separate heat exchanger might be necessary . And there is only so much heat output you can get from the boiler . The best way to figure out if the boiler can handle it is to count the square feet of radiation of the steam rads , see how it matches up to the existing boiler , and also see if the indirect and baseboard zone can be incorporated with the boiler's pickup factor , and factor in if the boiler is over or undersized . Prioritizing the indirect can give you some leeway in the pickup factor too - smarter minds can explain how to do it much better than me . Hope they chime in !
