Insulate return lines - even below the water level

A couple of weeks ago I asked whether to insulate the return lines or not, and the response was yes. Is it OK to insulate below the water line on a Weil McLain steam boiler? Also, is it OK to insulate the return that is close to the boiler? I'm asking because I want to measure how much fiberglass insulation I need to get. Insulating below the water line will increase the amount of insulation I need to purchase.

Insulate as many of the pipes as possible.Retired and loving it.0 -
Thanks Dan. I thought that was going to be the answer. I'll measure and get the insulation this weekend. It's nice to take care of these things before the heating season starts.0 -
A pointer, Chuck
When you put the insulation on, and pull the strip off the glue, and press the glue into place, take an extra minute and press, or "iron" down the glue joint with the side of your utility knife, or something metal and smooth.
Go over it a few times hard, or the stuff will peel open in a week.
I learned the hard way.
