Boiler replacement

I want to replace my 40 year old hydronic heating boiler with a more energy efficient one. To become a knowledgeable customer, I've bought Don's "How Come" and "Pumping Away" books. Man, what an education they and this website have provided! I've done occasional wiring, plumbing and heating jobs for 50 years, but will hire a heating contractor to install the boiler and help me avoid mistakes like I've made in the past. Are there any other books that you think will be helpfull in this job?

Has this hydronic system been cleaned or treated.
The reason for the question is that the old boiler may have worked fine with the current water condition, but a new one may not.

No, it has not been cleaned or treated. Care to recommend a product or procedure?0 -
