ProPress Threads

I installed a Munchkin last week and used 1-1/4" ProPress x Female adapters at the boiler. This is the first boiler job that I did with my new ProPress tool. The speed and ease of assembly that I have been hearing about is all true.
The problem: Both of the 1-1/4 female adapters leaked at the threads when I filled the system. I prepared the adapters and the boiler nipples as I normally would using single strand wick and Hercules Mega-Lock. I tightened both normally, with an 18" wrench and a smaller wrench on the brass nipples out of the boiler.
I wound up re-doing the threaded connection with way too much teflon tape and leak lock after going back to the shop for two couplings so I could re-assemble the piping. I probably should have used unions at the boiler, and probably will in the future.
I have to assume that the female adpaters have threads that aren't tapered or cut right. Have any other ProPress fans had this problem?
I used other male adapters on this job in 1-1/4", 1" and 3/4" sizes with no problems.
Any ideas?

Sounds like they just werent tight enough because I'm almost positive the propress threads are IPS. Call them up and ask? Was it Viega/Ridgid?0 -
ever over tighten a union?
with the wrong wrench you will turn a round into an oval. any likely hood that may have some bearing?0 -
Thanks
for the feedback guys. I really don't think I overtightened it, but I guess it's possible.
I think I will give the manufacturer a call about it. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. You know the routine when you call about things like this, you hear "Wow, you're the only one that's ever had that problem." And then six months later you find out others are having similar experiences.

ProPress NPT
All ProPress threads are NPT, so the problem should not be an IPS/NPT incompatibility. I'm not sure what the cause might be, so your best bet would be to call your area ProPress salesman and ask for his assistance in figuring out why the connections leaked. These guys see a lot of installations and may be able to pinpoint the cause, and can send it in here to the factory for further inspection if necessary.
