burner trouble

Happy 4 of july everyone. Okay, i came home and my boiler was off on reset. I pushed the reset button and I was getting rumbles, and a little puffback of smoke. So i turned off the system and checked the oil supply, filter, changed nozzel, and made sure the electrodes and z dim was correct. Then i restared the burner and noticed that i was getting back pressure, and the rumbleing was still there. So i checked the chimney and heat exchanger and cleaned.Still rumbles and back pressure. So i then added more combustion air using my combution kit got a zero smoke,2 over fire,and6 in the breach. Burner now runs NO noice and very little back pressure.Did i get the problem? Any input will be helpful.

back pressure
If you have (-.02) draft over fire you do not have any back pressure. If you have (+.02) over fire and (-.06) at the breech that would add up to (.08)" draft loss through boiler. That would indicate a restriction in flue passages of boiler. You didn't say what make and model boiler you have and that would have some effect on how much draft loss you should expect through boiler.
Give me the rest of the numbers from your combustion test. That should help diagnose trouble
Smoke # (should be zero)
Co2
Stack Temp
Draft +/-
overfire

sounds like you may have had oil left in the chamber from when the burner failed to ignite the first time. Are you sure it was the air you added that cleaned it up and not just time (for the excess to burn off)? What did the co2 reading do when you increased air? Was there any yellow tint in the smoke reading? Was co2 high to begin with?0 -

and i forgot to mention that it looks as though the chamber on the left side has com off.0 -
-.02 to -.05 is .03 draft loos through boiler.
Boiler is clean
-02 indicates no back pressure.
if chamber is coming away on left side it may interfere with flame pattern. WM chamber is usually just a "carpet" and often pulls away like that. It needs to be replaced or more trouble.
If chamber has curled into flame pattern that may be why you have to go to 10% co2 to get a clean fire.
I would expect 11-12% on that boiler if inspection door and sections are sealed.
