How would you rate American and A.O. Smith water heaters and compare them? Which is your favorite model for residential installation. Or is there another brand you like better?

Water Heaters
AO Smith, Ruud MADE IN MEXICO. American is still made in America. If American water heater company can manufacture in the US and make a profit then why do other companies claim they can't survive here in the US. Ruud water was my main brand of heater for 30 years. Once I started to see the MADE IN MEXICO on the label I quit using them. Even though Ruud and AO Smith are made in Mexico they are not any cheaper than an American water heater. I wish more people would go out of thier way to buy American products.
As for heater quality I have not seen any difference in water heater longevity between different major brands on average. For gas heaters in my area they seem to go on average from 9 to 12 years.
