Don't Know How to Solder

Options
and the "irrigation specialist" had to tie in to the copper domestic water system.

I've got to hand it to the guy; he used epoxy to join the fittings which provided a threading point for his PVC. It lasted more than 10 years until we came along and re-piped the bathroom.

But now, someone has come along with a product you can buy:

I read an article about using epoxy instead of lead solder in Popular Mechanics about 15 years ago when they were first baning lead solder in potable systems.

    solder

I went to career day with my friend a plumber where we had great fun teaching 4th graders to solder 1/2 elbows on to little pieces of copper pipe. Looks like this guy could use a lesson. J.Lockard

    Read an

article in yesterdays paper about the Hardware show in Vegas where someone has come out with a product to "glue" copper together.

It is some type of liquid compound that wipes on the pipe, in the fitting, you give it a couple of twists and it hardens up.

Has anyone else heard of it or seen it in use?

    Yes, Jack

I did see that product at the Homebuilders Show in Vegas this year. It was at a Home Depot booth and display.

Sorry I didn't have a camera that day.

    Copper pipe glue.

    Alan.
I had a look at the product you gave the link to.
    Has anyone used this product?
It looks a great product. Could it be the end of soldering?
    Thanks Alan.

My dad fixed a leaking lead and oakum joint in a horizontal soil branch in his house with Quick Crete--at least 30 years ago and it still doesn't leak or clog. It ain't pretty but I've gotta' hand it to him for ingenuity and long lasting "quick fix".

    glue make a mess

Had a contractor use so much of this stuff he plugged up a pressuring balancing shower valve. A little torch work got the stuff out, said it was the second time he's had this problem.
