Does any one have info on hvac tech who was killed on job, doing work on carrier rooftop unit. Would like to know specifics if possible, since I am in the same line of work.

    This Story?

The sad story may have been covered here earlier. It's one reason why I own a non-contact AC voltage indicator. It works by sensing the AC waves via induction, IIRC.

If you don't have a non-contact AC indicator (looks like a pen but has no external metal parts), buy one, along with a lock-out kit to ensure that someone less-than-observant doesn't fry you or one of your colleagues even after you secured the work site.

The latest twist on this story...

Now the guy's uncle, who owns the company, is in the news. I believe it said that he is a volunteer EMT. He was called to the scene of a hit and run accident, where a guy getting his mail was hit and left laying there overnight. The uncle recalls hitting something the night before, and knew his truck was badly damaged - so at that point he declared that he might have been the one who hit the guy. There will be more to this whole story, but I doubt the original electrocution will be the main focus.

    working safely

There are lots of OSHA regulations that need to be followed to ensure the safety of anyone that might be exposed to hazardous electrical circuits. An earlier thread titled workplace safety may give you something to think about. I hope it helps. copy and paste this....

    long island worker's deadly accident

    Thanks guys,
For the info, Jamie was a super tech, the "goto" guy at work. I belive whatever he was doing, he though was being done in safe manner. I do not know the specfics of that job had that day, but would like to know more.
The pain and suffering the family has to endure is something that I do not know how to put on paper. I can only feel for them.

    Respect

I called the company yesterday and inquired about any memorial fund. I wanted to help out via The News but the woman on the phone said that the family had already taken care of these details. I'll respect their decision.
