Is anyone doing inert gas testing to find cracked heat exchangers on furnaces? If so, what do you think?
Thanks in advance, Steve M.

By inert gas I assume
you are using nitrogen? I have used low level Methane (.5cc concentration) with a methane detector with very good results. Just about any gas in small concentration can be used as long as you have a detector sensitive enough to pick up the trace level of the gas. Most of the Methane detector systems for heat exchanger testing come with a calibration gas for setting up the detector correctly.0
