Testing a LWCO on a Vapor Vac System
JACKAL
Member Posts: 2
this is the thing on a steam system on 1 pipe you test the LWCO with the unit running and make sure the thing shut's down on loss of water and restarts when it refills to test the float assembly but if it's a Vapor Vac system when you try the flush the LWCO when it's running the air gets sucked in... how would you test the Safety or would you have to cool the thing down to flush it >??

Simply blow down the
low water cutoff when the boiler is making steam - not off and sucking a vacuum.
Just be careful. Live steam - even in a vaopr vacuum system is 3rd degree burn/city!
The great advantage of blowing down the LWCO while the boiler steams is the steam blows the walls and base of the body out - not just the junk in the valve cavity!
