I have a question reguardng cv ratings.I do not quite understand how to size items properly (mixing valve etc).
If someone can explain it I would greatly appreciate it.

    Finding the pressure drop

    When the Cv is known and the desired flow is known the pressure drop in ft/hd is found by (flow/Cv)^2*2.31

    CV Is:

    defined as the gpm of water that can pass through a valve with a one psi
    drop in pressure.Cv = Q/square root of the dp is the formula you can use,
    where Q is the number of gallons per minute and dp is the pressure drop,
    orQ = Cv x (SqRt of dp).With a valve with a Cv of 6.3, you get 6.3 gpm
    with a one pound differential or 2.31 feet of head.If your pressure drop is
    increased 2 psi or 4.62 feet, the gpm through the valve is about 8.9
    gpm.Hope it helps. DWood
