Mold up close and personal

I visited a home today that was infested with black mold. Water and moisture seeped in over the years from the roof and the foundation. Last owners all suffer the effects -- asthma -- and previous owner was taken to court for non-disclosure of the problem. It is a little complicated but I'll try and sort it out in a later edition of The News.

I'm the guy on the right with the hood, the home owner is on the left. We are standing in front of the home. If you notice the dark spot on the brick, that is where the mold is actually growing on the outside. The home is slated for demolition -- too costly to remediate and fix.

Nasty stuff, that mold is!

    Space Invaders!

We recently completed a church mold remediation job with excellent results. The indoor air now tests better than the outdoor air! Sounds like yours is a much more advanced case.

    Mold and construction details

Even today, ignorant builders aided by erroneous codes are putting up homes guaranteed to harbor mold. Prewar homes don't see the problem as much because they always had a nice little breeze blowing through them.

    SIPs! The ultimate solution!

    An oops

Upon inspection it was discovered that no vapor barrier was installed in the attic crawl space and the insulation was placed upside down. Neighbors are in denial that their homes (built by the same builder in the 70s) have similar problems.
